Nicolas Jackson is excited to go head-to-head with Tottenham once more as the Senegalese striker prepares for Thursday night’s London derby.
Making his debut once morest Spurs, the 22-year-old scored a memorable hat-trick in north London as the Blues cruised to a 4-1 win.
Jackson acknowledged the importance of that win and believes Chelsea will need to be at their best to repeat a similar feat at Stamford Bridge this time around.
“It was a great night,” Jackson recalled.
‘I was still quite new and I didn’t know until I got the hat-trick how important it was for the club. It was a big, big derby and I was very happy. Every time I sleep it’s in my head, the trick. Such good memories in their stadium.
“I hope we create the same memories in our stadium. We are going to fight because London derbies are not easy.
“We lost one last week and we don’t want that to happen once more. So we are going to fight as a team, fight for the club, and it is a derby that is very important for the club and the players.
‘We’re going to fight for it. We will try to do it as a team, one family, and try to make the fans happy.’
After joining from Villarreal in Spain’s top flight last summer, Jackson has hit double figures in the Premier League, scoring 13 in Blue in total.
Comparing the differences between football in Spain and England, the forward believes he has adapted well to his new surroundings, while realizing that improvements can always be made.
He said: ‘It’s a bit different to Spain but I’ve adapted very well. The manager and club help me. I am very happy, but it was difficult because we would like to be in the top four or top three, but we are in the middle of the table at the moment.
“We are going to work hard to try to finish in the European places. Fortunately we are in good form now and I am sure that next season will be much better than this one.
‘You can always improve. Even if I scored 30 or 40 goals, I might still improve. I’m going to keep working hard to improve every day and give my all for the team and the club.’
