PSL 9;  Lahore Qalandars defeated Islamabad by 17 runs and got their first win

In HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9, Lahore Qalandars defeated Islamabad United by 17 runs and got their first win of this season.

Chasing 163 runs, the Islamabad United team was bowled out for 145 runs. This is the first victory of Lahore Qalandars in the tournament.

Before this victory, the team of Lahore Qalandars was already out of the playoff race.

In the match played at Pindi Stadium, Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan won the toss and invited Lahore Qalandars to bat first.

Lahore Qalandars scored 162 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Wayne Darduson scored 64 runs and Shaheen Afridi scored 30 runs.

Apart from this, Sahibzada Farhan scored 2, Fakhr Zaman 10, Shai Hope 6, Sikandar Raza 4 and Ahsan Hafeez scored 13 runs. David Visa remained unbeaten scoring 24 runs.

On behalf of Islamabad United, Roman Raees took 2 wickets, Naseem Shah, Haneen, Imad and Shadab took one wicket each.

In pursuit of 163 runs by Lahore Qalandars, the team of Islamabad United was dismissed for 145 runs in the 19th over.

Faheem Ashraf scored 41, Azam Khan scored 29 and Naseem Shah scored 27 runs, Alex Hales was out for zero, Shadab Khan and Jordan scored 7, 7 runs, Agha Salman, Imad Wasim K scored 4, 4 and Haneen Shah scored 3 runs.

On behalf of Lahore Qalandars, Zaman Khan sent 4 players to the pavilion while Shaheen Shah Afridi took 2 wickets.

Apart from this, David Visa, Jehandad Khan and Ahsan Hafeez took one wicket each.

It should be noted that earlier in the first match played on Wednesday, Karachi Kings easily defeated Quetta Gladiators by 7 wickets.

After Karachi Kings’ victory once morest Quetta Gladiators, Lahore Qalandars were eliminated from the playoffs. Multan Sultans have already qualified for the playoffs.

Points table

As for the points table, Multan Sultans are first with 12 points, Quetta, Peshawar and Islamabad are second, third and fourth with 9 and 9 points respectively.

Karachi is fifth with 6 points and Lahore Qalandars is last with 3 points.
