They receive Máynez at the UAM with squeals and applause

“I am the only presidential candidate who can stand in a place like this and dialogue with the students head-on; dialogue with those who think differently and listen to the students,” said Jorge Álvarez Máynez during his visit to the Metropolitan Autonomous University (UAM) Xochimilco, where the divided student body booed him, but at times also praised him.

Yesterday, the presidential candidate of Movimiento Ciudadano (MC), who has already visited 27 universities throughout the country as part of his campaign, went to that higher education institution where a sector of the students welcomed him with shouts of: “Out with Máynez! ” and he was critical of the aspirations of the Zacatecan.

“I’ll be here! I’m not going to leave! I will be here because this university belongs to you, but it also belongs to all of them. This university deserves to hear all voices, it deserves plurality. You have value, you are worthy, it is very dignified to show up, to protest, to raise your voice, but I am going to be here to listen to your voice, to listen to all the voices,” added Álvarez Máynez in response to the rejection of an audience that little by little He agreed to talk.

Although he was greeted with shouts of “get out, get out!” Since young people who held banners once morest him on the stage where he appeared and played loud music to prevent his speech, Álvarez Máynez presented the proposals of his national project.

“How do you intend to be President of Mexico with the cabinet that is loaded?”, “How can you show your face if you support Salomón Chertorivski, who openly supports the genocide in Palestine?”, “Don’t use us as political marketing!” “When are you going to give us original proposals?” were some of the questions raised by the young people, some from the Sociology, Law, International Relations and Economics majors.

“The UAM will not be another marketing product on social networks, where it grotesquely tries to connect with the youth, with the same youth that they repress, criminalize and marginalize in different ways for remaining revolutionary, rebellious, critical, untamed,” they claimed.

The students read their position regarding the visits of presidential candidates, where they assured that none of them represent them, and different women confronted him regarding the alleged accusation of sexual harassment to which the candidate responded that they were lies.

“Regarding the statement from the UAM student assembly, they are absolutely right: Mexico is not going to change with another president, Mexico is not going to change with another party. The vote, the election is not the way to change the country, this is a country that we all need to change, every day; do not deposit, do not delegate. “I do not believe in representative and electoral democracy, I believe in democracy as a way of life,” he responded.
