DESIGNER and presenter Ivan Gunawan, recently visited Uganda, East Africa to inaugurate his mosque which he built two years ago. Construction of the mosque, which has been named the Indonesian Mosque by Ivan Gunawan, will begin around April 2022 with a minimalist appearance covered in white.
By uploading a video on his personal Instagram page, the 42-year-old designer showed the moment when he inaugurated the mosque, distributed the Koran, hijab and THR to the mosque administrators and slaughtered three cows.
“Thank you, O Allah, for your endless blessings for me and my family until I arrived in Uganda. We had fun in the mosque area and slaughtered the cow and then cooked it. “The beauty of today is a day that I will always remember in my life,” wrote Ivan, Friday (26/4).
During his visit, the man who is often called Igun also showed his closeness to the children there.
Apart from that, Igun also built water absorption wells near the mosque to ensure efficient access to clean water for local communities.
“Changing lives with these water wells in Uganda, ensuring efficient water access for those in need and local communities. “I dedicate it to my beloved mother, Erna Gunawan, whose love and strength inspire us all,” he said.

Children were seen taking turns queuing to get clean water from the manual water pump. Ivan Gunawan revealed the reason for not using an electric water pump, which is easier to use, because access to electricity there is not evenly distributed.
Furthermore, Igun said that his mosque had been used by local residents for worship since it was founded. This mosque has also been used for the second time in the month of Ramadan, but has not yet been inaugurated by him as the owner.
“The mosque is ready, yesterday it was used for tarawih and Eid al-Fitr prayers, but it hasn’t been inaugurated yet. “Hopefully the presence of this mosque can help people who live far from the city center to worship,” he said.

Igun, wearing a white robe complete with a turban around his neck, expressed his gratitude following successfully building a mosque in the interior of Uganda. In this short video, the happy expressions of Ugandans, especially children, were also recorded when they welcomed Igun’s arrival.
“Alhamdulillah. Grateful to finally be able to visit the ‘Indonesian Mosque’. My own mosque in Uganda. “It was a truly blessed experience to connect with the community and those who care regarding this holy place,” he said.
Even though he had to travel a long way from Indonesia to Uganda, for him the moment was an exciting one. Igun admitted that his aim was to build a mosque in Uganda in order to help Muslim brothers throughout the world. Igun also expressed his gratitude for the inauguration of the mosque and hoped that other mosques would be built in Uganda.
“Thank you, Allah, for giving me the opportunity to build a mosque in Uganda. “I hope that this mosque will not only be the first and last time, but God willing, we can build other mosques here,” he concluded. (Z-1)
