The government official’s statement came following Moroccans waited with great anticipation for the price of a bottle of gas to rise starting next May 1, following it was confirmed that the increase would not be implemented at the beginning of this month, in line with what the government announced earlier regarding raising the price of a bottle of gas by 10 dirhams in the context of Measures to reduce state support expenses within the Clearing Fund, in a gradual manner.
The government is working to compensate vulnerable and poor families affected by this liberation, through the direct social support programme, which has been in operation since the beginning of this year, as it is expected that a 10 dirham increase in the price of a bottle of gas will save the state treasury more than one billion dirhams annually, noting that The Clearing Fund annually pays 15 billion dirhams to support butane gas prices
