Faustin Archange Touadera, Central African President, arrived Monday in Libreville to participate in the closing of the inclusive national dialogue in his capacity as facilitator of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) for a return to a normal political situation in Gabon following the coup d’état of August 30.
President Touadera was welcomed at Léon Mba airport in Libreville by the Vice-President of the Gabonese Republic, Joseph Owando Berre.
During the opening ceremony of the dialogue on April 2, President Touadera was the distinguished guest of the ceremony.
Some 680 Gabonese people participated in this dialogue, the aim of which was to reflect on the Gabon of tomorrow.
The full report of the dialogue will be known this Tuesday because the office headed by Monseigneur Jean Patrick Iba-ba, Archbishop of Libreville will officially submit this report to the president of the transition during an official ceremony planned for this purpose.
The first announcements of the dialogue which sparked controversy were the suspension of all political parties pending new criteria for creating a party and the suspension for 2 years of the Gabonese Democratic Party (PDG, former party which ruled Gabon for 55 years) as well as the ineligibility of its executives for a period of 3 years. The executives of the parties allied to the CEO receive the same sanction.
These proposals, however, are not decisions because the national dialogue was not sovereign to decide in place of the people.
