Defending Madrid Open CHAMPION Carlos Alcaraz successfully advanced to the third round of the Madrid Open.
Alcaraz, who returned to play following being absent for a month, recorded a 6-2 and 6-1 win over Alexander Shevchenko, Friday (26/4).
The world number three tennis player had no trouble achieving victory following suffering an upper arm injury which kept him from appearing at the Monte Carlo Masters and Barcelona Open.
“This month has been very difficult for me. After a lot of uncertainty, I finally returned to competing,” said Alcaraz.
“Today’s priority is to see my movements.”
“I feel good and I think I played quite well. I am very happy to be able to play once more in Madrid,” he continued.
