Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has announced a review of relations with the United States following Washington vetoed Palestine’s request for full UN membership.
Speaking to the official Palestinian news agency “Wafa”, Mahmoud Abbas said that the “Palestinian leadership will review bilateral relations with the United States to ensure the protection of the interests, causes and rights of its people”.
According to Wafa, this statement of the Palestinian president came following the United States used its veto power in the United Nations Security Council.
Mahmoud Abbas said that ‘Palestinian leadership will develop a new strategy to protect independent national decisions and follow the Palestinian agenda instead of the American vision or regional agenda’.
Mahmoud Abbas said that ‘this position of the US government has created extraordinary anger among the Palestinian people and the people of the region, which is possibly pushing the region towards further instability, chaos and terrorism’.
