Unfinished works of the Concepción – Pozo Colorado section would be put out to tender in May

Asunción, IP Agency.- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) announced that next May the new tender for works on the unfinished section of the PY05 route that connects the cities of Pozo Colorado-Concepción would be ready.

This was announced by the head of the MOPC, Claudia Centurión during a technical tour carried out together with her work team.

In that sense, he pointed out that they are working very closely with the Ministry of Economy and with road engineering experts in our country and that, at this moment, the entire MOPC team is focused on the project.

“This is a process that was terminated at the beginning of our administration and now we are focused on being able to quickly resume this route and make it a reality for all the people in the north of the country. “I am very confident that we are going to have a successful process,” she stated while pointing out that the financing would come from the same credit, that is, the remainder that remained.

Progress in the tender

For his part, the Vice Minister of Public Works, Hugo Arce, indicated that work is already underway on the new call and that it is expected that by the month of May it can be raised once more on the Public Contracting portal “to give the people of Concepción a definitive solution to this problem.”

According to the vice minister, there are regarding 90 km that would be intervened in order to complete what is missing from the route between the city of Concepción and Lot 1 (completed) that reaches Pozo Colorado.

Meanwhile, the improvement of a 6 km stretch from the head of the Nanawa Bridge to the May 2 roundregarding is progressing, a sector that was also abandoned following the termination of the contract.

It is worth mentioning that this project was tendered in three lots under the modality of Road Rehabilitation and Maintenance Contract by Service Levels (Cream). Of these three, only Lot 1 was successfully concluded, with the financing agency being the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF) for an amount of up to USD 100 million.
