Informed of the facts, she took the little girl to a health center, where the doctor easily observed the horror by confirming the breakage of the girl’s hymen.
The complaint was filed, the alleged perpetrator arrested by elements of the Judicial Police. Questioned, Guy Irénée Onanga, simply rejected the accusations of rape. The victim in her hearing confirmed that the accused abused her, specifying in passing that he very often dared to touch her buttocks and breasts. An attitude that she repeatedly denounced to her grandmother who remained tight-lipped.
Trying to escape the cracks of justice, he took as a pretext the fact that the victim was like his daughter since he had taken care of her since she was 4 years old before once once more denying the facts. The damning statements of the victim enlightened the Court which found him guilty of the crime of rape of a minor by a person having authority over the victim. In repression, he was sentenced to 15 years of criminal imprisonment, including 4 years suspended. He was also fined one million CFA francs in addition to costs. His daughters present at the trial continued to proclaim their father’s innocence in this affair, but the Criminal Court ruled in vain.
