Protectors of public money call on the Public Prosecution to reveal the fate of “forgotten” corruption files

The Moroccan Association for the Protection of Public Money called on the Public Prosecution to uncover a group of corruption and plundering of public money files that have been “long forgotten.”

The association stated, through its president, Muhammad al-Ghalousi, that “files surrounding their heroes were suspected of corruption that exploded and were followed by national public opinion, but were quickly forgotten or extended into coldness,” noting that “these files relate to public affairs and require the Public Prosecution to uncover them and ensure the rule of law.” In which”.

Al-Glousi explained that the Public Prosecution is required to “disclose the fate of a number of files, the first of which is the Channel 2 file, regarding which the Moroccan Association for the Protection of Public Money had previously submitted a complaint to the Attorney General at the Court of Appeal in Casablanca during the year 2019, through which it reviewed suspicions of waste and embezzlement.” Public funds based on what was stated in the report of the Supreme Council of Accounts for the year 2018.”

The head of the Moroccan Association for Human Rights noted that “the complaint was referred to the National Judicial Police Division, which has not yet summoned the association to listen to it, while the King’s Attorney General at the Casablanca Court had previously sent a reminder to the National Judicial Police Division regarding the Channel 2 file.”

In addition, Al-Glossi touched on the file of “World Cup tickets in Qatar,” the full results of which “were not announced following it was said that the National Judicial Police Division was still conducting research on the matter,” highlighting that “all that has happened so far is the trial of two people, a journalist and a parliamentarian.” While he expressed the fear of the “protectors of public funds” that the file “has been closed permanently.”

In addition, Al-Glousi re-shed light on the issue of demolishing buildings in the city of Temara due to their lack of the necessary permits, noting that “the research that was said to be conducted by the judicial police has not yet shown results, despite the passage of a long period.”

On the other hand, the President of the Moroccan Association for the Protection of Public Money also mentioned the file of the Mohammed V Sports Complex, a file in which “the Central Casablanca Regional Branch of the Association submitted a complaint to the King’s Attorney General at the Casablanca Court of Appeal regarding the suspicion of squandering important financial sums amounting to 22 billion.” He pointed out that “the complaint was referred to the National Judicial Police Division and was heard by the head of the regional branch of the association, Muhammad Mashkour,” and that the research “is not over yet.”

Accordingly, Al-Glossi renewed his call on the Public Prosecution to remove these and other files from the stagnation, in order to “apply the law to everyone, end impunity, and embody the role of the judiciary in combating corruption and the plundering of public money, and contributing to the improvement of public life.”
