President Peña visited affected families in Misiones and learned about the most urgent needs in the area

Asunción, IP Agency.- This Friday, President Santiago Peña visited the families displaced by the floods in the district of Villa Florida, department of Misiones, who are being assisted by State agencies.

During his visit to the department of Misiones, district of Villa Florida, the head of state expressed that they went to see first-hand the effects of the inclement weather, and the Tebicuary flood, which have affected the riverside families, whom They are being given national assistance, through the National Emergency Secretariat.

The president acknowledged that assistance might be insufficient in the face of losses of material goods and the lack of employment opportunities, but that the Government is working through coordinated actions with different institutions such as the Ministry of Agriculture; as well as with the Ministry of Urban Planning, Housing and Habitat for access to decent housing, which is a constant request in each of the corners visited.

“Our commitment here is to work with the Departmental and Municipal Government so that they can recover their homes as quickly as possible and there can be a source of income as quickly as possible as well,” said Peña.

«We will overcome together this moment that affects Villa Florida and other cities in the country. From the Government of Paraguay we are working to assist the families that were affected following the last storms, in addition to advancing in fundamental solutions so that floods in cities are things of the past,” public also President Peña on his social networks.

The National Emergency Secretariat (SEN) estimates that regarding 200 families were affected in Villa Florida. At the country level, the rains of recent days have affected more than 2,200 families, said Minister Arsenio Zárate.

In addition to Villa Florida, families from Yabebyry, Coronel Martínez and Ayolas were affected. In this last district The Government began the efforts for the construction of a coastal defense within the MOPC priority works plan.
