The woman, named as Sonia M., was married to IS leader Abdelnasser Benyoucef. She is suspected of having held a teenage girl from the Yazidi ethnic group as a slave in Syria.
The girl, who is now 25 years old, was 16 when she was allegedly forced into slavery by Benyoucef. according to The Parisian has she accused Sonia M. of having raped her twice and of having known that her husband raped her. She says that she was held captive for over a month in Syria in 2015 and was not allowed to eat, drink or shower without Sonia M’s permission.
The accused woman denied the allegations in a March 14 hearing, saying her ex-husband “only committed one rape.”
– The girl might leave her room when she wanted, ate what she wanted and used the toilet when she needed to, explained the now accused woman.
Defense attorney Nabil Boudi is very critical of the indictment, which he calls “opportunistic accusations”.
– The prosecution is trying to hold her responsible for the most serious crimes, because the court has not been able to arrest the real perpetrators, says the lawyer.
Sources close to the investigations say an arrest warrant has been issued for Benyoucef.
