The Sixth Guarantee Court of Santiago decreed preventive detention for the three accused for the crime of Carabineros lieutenant Emmanuel Sánchez, which occurred on Wednesday night in the commune of Quinta Normal.
The Public Ministry requested the precautionary measure of preventive detention for Josué Ramírez, Wuilberth de Jesús Olivares and Yolvi González, which was finally accepted by the judge because they constitute a danger to society.
“As for the need for caution, it goes without saying that it is a very serious crime, it is not serious, but rather the crime for which the accused are being formalized is very serious,” said the judge, who established a period of 180 days. for research.
In the opinion of the magistrate, among other things, “the plurality of subjects, form and circumstance of commission, the abrupt and unprepared manner, and without any fear or even prior warning, (…) show that they are dangerous for social security , the three accused.”
In the instance, prosecutor Felipe Olivari, from the Organized Crime and Homicide Team (ECOH), presented various testimonial and fingerprint evidence, in addition to images from security cameras and ballistic evidence to support the request for precautionary measures.
Carabinero was shot down
For his part, prosecutor Pablo Sabaj presented videos that show the subjects carrying out robberies with surprises at the scene, and the arrival of the police to arrest them. In the record, Sánchez is heard identifying himself on at least three occasions as a Carabineros official, and the moment of the shooting, the death of the major and that of the criminal Julio César González are shown.
Likewise, the victim’s forensic report was detailed, which revealed 21 ballistic impacts: 14 with entry and 7 with projectile exit, on the head, torso, abdomen and upper limbs.
Prosecutor Sabaj described the incident as a shooting and charged only one of those charged with illegal possession of weapons and ammunition.
