SPÖ federal list presented to great applause
Vienna (OTS/SK) – At the SPÖ Federal Party Council today, Saturday, in Wieselburg, the SPÖ presented its federal list for the upcoming National Council election. Led by SPÖ federal party chairman Andreas Babler, the strong, highly qualified and diverse team is working to make Austria as a whole more social and fairer once more – with heart and brain. ****
After Andres Babler’s speech, the first eleven candidates from the federal list introduced themselves to around 700 delegates and guests on stage:
Andreas Babler (born 1973): The SPÖ federal party chairman, SPÖ club chairman and SPÖ Federal Councilor from Lower Austria Andreas Babler will lead the federal list as the top candidate. His understanding of politics is characterized by encounters at eye level and respectful cooperation; with his heart and brain he will lead the country into a better future. “Making Austria better and fairer with heart and brain – that’s what my strong team of candidates for the National Council election stands for. “Together we will win the election and bring Austria forward once more,” said Babler.
Doris Bures (born 1962): The Viennese Doris Bures, Second President of the National Council and top candidate for the State of Vienna, has extensive political experience. The political priorities of the former women’s and transport minister and federal manager of the SPÖ include strengthening parliamentary democracy and women’s rights. “Social Democracy has always been on the right side of history. If social democrats have the opportunity to make decisions, then they use this power for the people of this country,” said Bures.
Josef Muchitsch (born 1967): The Styrian Josef Muchitsch is the SPÖ’s labor and social spokesman in the National Council. The trade unionist’s political priorities are strengthening workers’ rights and fighting for safe and good jobs, fair wages, fair pensions and safe care. “Governments since 2017 have not been on the side of the people. They made politics once morest the people,” said Muchitsch. “It’s time for a Federal Chancellor Andi Babler!”
Eva-Maria Holzleitner (born 1993): Upper Austrian Eva-Maria Holzleitner is deputy club chairwoman and SPÖ women’s spokesperson in the National Council. The focus of the SPÖ federal women’s chairmen is on strengthening women: fair wages, compatibility of family and work, half-half in all areas of life. “Women will no longer put up with men having control over their bodies,” said Holzleitner. “As social democrats, we will put the well-being of women in this country first.”
Philip Kucher (born 1981): The Carinthian Philip Kucher is the SPÖ club chairman and SPÖ health spokesman in the National Council. The political priorities for Kucher are the fight once morest two-tier medicine, the strengthening of the public health system, the commitment to an affordable life and fair opportunities for all people in Austria. “It’s regarding people’s daily lives, whether a pensioner can afford to live with her pension, whether children have opportunities, whether there is good health care, whether the care works,” says Kucher. “It makes a difference for these people whether the social democrats rule or not.”
Julia Herr (born 1992): Born in Burgenland, Julia Herr is deputy party chairwoman, deputy club chairwoman and climate spokesperson for the SPÖ in the National Council. In her political work, she advocates, among other things, environmental and climate protection – she vehemently demands that social justice and climate protection finally have to go hand in hand. An offensive is needed for a climate-friendly industry with good jobs in the future. The technology of tomorrow should finally be produced in Austria and not in China. “It’s regarding nothing less than ensuring that our children have an intact environment in the future and that access to nature is not only available to those with deep wallets,” says Herr.
Reinhold Binder (born 1978): The Upper Austrian Reinhold Binder is federal chairman of the production union PRO-GE. The trade unionist fights for the purchasing power of employees, for healthy work and the reintroduction of the pension without deductions following 45 years of work. “Anyone who works hard and hard for 45 years and pays their contributions must be able to retire without deductions,” demands Binder.
Michaela Schmidt (born 1983): Michaela Schmidt from Salzburg has been a member of the SPÖ National Council since September 2023 and is the area spokesperson in the National Council for the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The economist and business IT specialist also uses her expertise to promote fair tax and distribution policies. “The time has come when we have to set the course if we want to have sustainable companies and good jobs in Austria in 10 years,” said Schmidt.
Paul Stich (born 1998): The Viennese Paul Stich is chairman of the Socialist Youth Austria. Stich’s political priorities are the commitment to fair distribution, reforms in the education system and the interests of young people in Austria. “Young people, even if they didn’t grow up with a golden spoon in their mouth, must be given a fair chance and be able to participate in life on an equal basis,” demands Stich.
Selma Yildirim (born 1969): The Tyrolean Selma Yildirim is the state women’s chairwoman of the SPÖ Tyrol, a member of the National Council and the SPÖ’s justice spokesperson. The lawyer is committed to women’s rights, a strong, independent judiciary and equal access to justice for everyone. “We want to end the judicial gridlock of the last few years. There is a need for a strong, independent judiciary as an important pillar of the rule of law and a liberal democracy,” said Yildirim.
Mario Lindner (born 1982): The Styrian Mario Lindner is the SPÖ’s equal treatment spokesman in the National Council and federal chairman of the social democratic LGBTIQ+ organization SoHo. The trained electrician is a passionate trade unionist and advocates for human rights, equality and a safe, discrimination-free life for EVERYONE. “It’s regarding the visibility of women and the visibility of queer people,” says Lindner. “Something finally has to change here in health policy!” (Cont.) jks/bj
