“Senator, are you Jewish?”: this was the question posed this morning, on Radio Anch’io on Rai Radio 1, by the host Giorgio Zanchini to FdI senator Ester Mieli. The program discussed protests once morest Israel in Italian universities and American campuses. “But you ask all the guests what religion they are? Are they Catholic or evangelical? I don’t think some things because I am of the Jewish religion and respect and freedom applies to everyone and religion has nothing to do with it” and “my thoughts it’s not tied to my being Jewish,” Mieli replied. Solidarity with the senator was immediately expressed by her party.
“All my solidarity with Fratelli d’Italia senator Ester Mieli for what happened this morning during a radio interview on Radio Anch’Io. An unacceptable episode which appears even more serious given the delicate and complex moment we are witnessing. My most sincere sympathy goes to you and your family.” This is what the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida, declared.
