WASHINGTON (EFE).— The United States assured yesterday that Iran wanted to cause “significant” damage to Israel and leave victims with its attack of hundreds of drones and missiles, in an attempt to contradict the narrative that the Iranian attack was designed to fail. and leave no room for further escalation.
John Kirby, White House spokesman, began a press conference by saying that he wanted to “correct” some of the information published in recent hours regarding Iran’s attack, the first that Tehran has launched directly once morest Israeli territory.
“I have seen reports that the Iranians intended to fail. That that spectacular and embarrassing failure was all by design,” she began.
“I have also seen that they supposedly gave advance notice to help Israel prepare its defenses and minimize potential damage. “All of this is categorically false, to use a phrase from the president: it is nonsense (malarkey, an Irish meaning like Joe Biden’s ancestry),” he added.
The spokesman alleged that the attack failed because Israel — with help from the United States, the United Kingdom and neighboring Jordan — managed to intercept almost all of the Iranian projectiles.
For his part, United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that Washington has spent the last 36 hours coordinating a “diplomatic response” to Iran’s attack once morest Israel with the aim of avoiding an escalation in the Middle East.
Blinken made these statements to the media during an event at the State Department with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohamed Shia al Sudani, who will later meet at the White House with Biden.
