The man is charged with two murders and attempted murder. The police believe that he killed his mother and stepfather, and injured his half-sister, before he then took his own life. Almost five months following the murders, the police are nearing the end of the investigation, police attorney Kristine Pedersen in the Nordland police district confirms to The daily newspaper.
– There is not much left, but we are still waiting for final autopsy reports and the completion of some minor tasks in the case, says Pedersen.
The investigation has so far revealed no motive for the murders. There are also no indications that the murders were planned.
– As the investigation has so far not revealed any motive, it is likely that the case will end without clear answers as to why this happened, says the police attorney.
Lawyer Tor Haug has been appointed as defense counsel for the 19-year-old accused of murder. He is not aware that the accused should have had a history of violence, drugs or psychiatry.
– Everyone describes him as a nice guy, and everyone does not understand what has happened and has no plausible explanation, says the defender.
He believes the case will be dropped on the state of the evidence.
– If the family never gets an answer as to why this happened, it is of course both a shame and tragic, but that is often the case in this type of case, says Haug.
