“Bloomberg”: Trump’s team is considering measures against countries that abandon the dollar

United States – Bloomberg reported, citing informed sources, that aides to Donald Trump, the potential US presidential candidate, are considering taking measures once morest countries seeking to abandon the US dollar.

According to the agency’s sources, Trump’s economic advisors are studying the possible measures that may be taken if Trump wins the upcoming presidential elections, aimed at confronting major emerging markets that seek to reduce their dependence on the dollar.

The measures that are still under discussion, and which are supposed to be applied once morest America’s opponents and allies alike, who are looking for alternative ways to convert trade into other currencies, include the imposition of export control measures, accusations of currency manipulation, and customs duties.

It is worth noting that getting rid of the dollar was one of the topics discussed at the BRICS summit last August.

According to Bloomberg, Trump’s team discussed these BRICS efforts specifically.

This comes once morest the backdrop of US President Joe Biden signing a law granting the US administration powers to confiscate Russian assets in dollars and transfer them to help Ukraine.

The move raised concerns among some Republicans regarding the possibility of undermining the role of the US dollar in the international financial system.

Trump has repeatedly stated that he wants the dollar to remain the global reserve currency, and that he will seek to prevent countries from getting rid of the dollar.
