The first half of Game 3 between the Mavericks and the Clippers served as a reminder: These teams don’t like each other.
In the third game of the third playoff series over the past five years between these two teamsthings got a little tense during the second quarter following a Mavericks fast break led to a hard foul and an exchange between Clippers guard Russell Westbrook and Mavericks fans at large.

After a steal by Luka Doncic and a feed to Mavericks wing Josh Green, Westbrook came pouring in trying to block Green’s layup. Instead, he made what officials called a “windup and follow-through” and hit Green in the head, which on replay review resulted in a Flagrant 1 being assessed to Westbrook.
A brief exchange between Mavericks and Clippers ensued, following which Westbrook had some choice words for Mavericks fans.
Westbrook was later subject to another review following a play involving Luka Doncic, but the play was ruled “accidental contact” and no foul was called.
Update: Westbrook’s night had an early end.
After a few incidents with Mavericks forward PJ Washington, both were ejected from the game around the five minute mark of the fourth quarter. Westbrook finished the night with one point on 0-for-7 shooting.
