A teenage girl suffered facial injuries that might have been caused by projectiles while she was walking in a wooded area Friday evening, in Sainte-Julienne, in Lanaudière.

Police were called around 7 p.m. regarding a teenage girl with facial injuries.

The injuries might have been caused by projectiles whose nature remains undetermined, indicated Adam Marineau, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

At the time of writing these lines, however, it was not known whether it was an attack or a simple accident.

The young girl was traveling on foot in a wooded area near a residential area during the event.

The possible attack would have occurred under a bridge at the corner of Albert and Cartier streets.

The provincial police had set up a security perimeter at this location late yesterday evening.

“That’s always where shit happens with young people, all the time, all the time… the fights… once my granddaughter was attacked,” a man told TVA Nouvelles of the neighborhood.

“They hang out in gangs, they’re the kids from school [secondaire] Havre-Jeunesse, it goes through there, then it’s there all the time [qu’il y a des problèmes]”, he added.

Taking refuge with her family

“I didn’t see anything, I didn’t hear anything,” said another neighbor briefly, Journal.

The teenager then took refuge at the home of her family members, who then contacted the emergency services.

Patrollers were also present in front of a residence located near the intersection of Cartier Street and Government Road, approximately seven minutes on foot from where the SQ perimeter was established.
