The Amadeus Austrian Music Awards were presented for the 24th time on Friday evening in the Vienna Volkstheater. Even before the show with numerous live performances, two winners in the main categories were announced. Hubert von Goisern was honored for his life’s work, and Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen presented the golden trophy to the 71-year-old.
The world musician had already signaled his great joy when the award was announced in March: “Gratitude for everything that has happened so far is flooding through me right now. And I’m looking forward to everything that life still has in store. What an honor to Amadeus for his life’s work to obtain.”
folkshilfe comes away empty-handed
Viennese rapper Raf Camora won the “Album of the Year” category for his album “XV”. The Upper Austrian Quetschn pop trio folkshilfe (“vire”) and the indie band “My Ugly Clementine” (album title “The Good Life”) with the Eferdingen band founder Sophie Lindinger were also hoping for this award.
The latter defended themselves with an Amadeus in the “Alternative” category. Another Amadeus went to the Ebensee alternative band “Bipolar Feminin” with the FM4 Award (audience choice). This prize was also decided before the award ceremony. Wanda won in two main categories, live act of the year and song of the year with “Nobody Else”.
The Viennese singer Bibiza was the big favorite in the local music industry’s annual awards ceremony with a total of six nominations in 13 categories for his debut album “Wiener Schickeria”. For “An Ode to Vienna” there was the Amadeus for songwriter of the year and victory in the “Best Sound” category.
The newly formed band “Aut of Orda” with Christopher Seiler, Paul Pizzera and Daniel Fellner was awarded in the “Pop/Rock” genre. The trio has just released its original, first album, “Das Empörium Strikes Back”. The “Hip-Hop/Urban” category remains firmly in the hands of Raf Camora, the Leftovers won in the “Hard & Heavy” genre and Toby Romeo won in “Electronic/Dance”. Molden, Seiler & the women’s orchestra won the “Jazz/World/Blues” category, while Melissa Naschenweng was awarded an Amadeus trophy in the “Pop/Folk Music” category.
