The three ladies with an unremarkable history had all visited the “Vip Spa” in the city, which was investigated for the first time in 2018 for an HIV problem, which “NBC” reported.

Those affected had one thing in common: they had undergone a facial treatment, also known as the “Vampire facial”.

After HIV infections became known in 2018, the facility had to close.

The spa did not have the correct licenses for the treatments and the security measures were also quite poor.

An inspection of the building found unpackaged syringes in drawers and trash cans. A rack of unmarked blood tubes was also found on a kitchen table. Another was in the refrigerator next to injectables such as lidocaine and food.

The health department’s investigators finally concluded in the report that a total of 59 of the spa customers might be infected with HIV. Around a third of them were treated with a “Vampire Facial”, the rest with other substances such as Botox. The origin of HIV infection is still unclear.
