For the 24th time, the local music industry is celebrating itself this evening with the presentation of the Amadeus Music Awards in the Vienna Volkstheater. Prizes will be awarded in 14 categories – from hip hop to folk music. Two winners have already been chosen and both come from the Salzkammergut. Hubert von Goisern is honored for his life’s work and the alternative band Bipolar Feminin from Ebensee receives the FM 4 audience award. “This is a nice recognition,” says singer and lyricist Leni Ulrich, but at the same time she criticizes the non-transparent way in which how artists are nominated: “The jury should be much more diverse.”
The band “Aut of Orda”, nominated in the pop/rock category, also did not attach great importance to the award in an interview with OÖNachrichten: “”The Amadeus is really nice to have. If you have one, you’re happy, but it’s also a bubble thing,” said band member Paul Pizzera.
Two more bands have a chance of winning a prize tonight: Folkshilfe is nominated in the Album of the Year category with their album “vire” – the biggest “opponent” here is probably the Viennese rapper Raf Camora (“XV”). The quartet “My Ugly Clementine” also has outsider chances with the album “The Good Life”. Sophie Lindinger’s band from Eferding is also nominated in the “Alternative” category.
