The Esaote group closes the 2023 financial year with growth and achieved a significant average annual increase in revenues (7.6%) over the last four years. The group’s consolidated data show net sales revenues of 273.2 million euros (+6.5% on 2022); gross operating margin at 41.7 million (+24.5%); group operating result at 13.4 million, (+43%); consolidated net profit at 6.2 million euros, quadrupled compared to 2022 (1.2 million euros).
«The results of the year – states Franco Fontana, CEO of the company specialized in medical imaging diagnostics – confirm the further progress of the group which continues to expand, as demonstrated by the average annual growth of 7.6% that we have achieved in the last 4 years. The solidity of the business, growing in all product lines, the cost optimization process and the attention to production processes, as well as the continuous investment in research and development, for the introduction of new products and technologies, place Esaote among the world’s leading players in medical imaging.”
Staff of 1,250 people
During 2023, the group, which has a staff of approximately 1,250 people (of which more than half operate in Italy), increased its investment in R&D by 9.8%, which rose to 32.9 million euros, equal to to 12% of turnover.
As regards the various sectors in which Esaote operates, that of ultrasound systems has marked the greatest growth: revenues increased by 9.7%, allowing the group, explains Fontana, «to acquire important market shares in areas and segments strategic. Revenue growth was driven by the new high-end trolley-mounted ultrasound machines, in particular MyLab X90, launched at the beginning of 2023, which allowed the group to successfully enter technologically competitive market segments.”
Positive year for the MRI sector
Last year, continues Fontana, «was extremely positive for the open MRI sector, which grew by 3.3% and recorded the new sales record in Esaote’s history: the total body magnet system open “Magnifico Open” drove revenue growth, arousing interest in all markets.” Finally, the Medical IT sector (development of software for the management of diagnostic processes and quantitative analysis software for cardiovascular applications), «with an increase in turnover of 3.2% – underlines Fontana – continued its growth path, based on the ability to generate demand for the digital transformation of healthcare”.
