The Paraguayan Pro Tempore Presidency of Mercosur invites to the Preparatory Dialogue on Human Rights with civil society

Asunción, IP Agency.- The Paraguayan Pro Tempore Presidency of Mercosur (PPTP) calls on members of organizations and social movements in the region to participate in a day of virtual preparatory dialogue, scheduled for next Tuesday, April 30, with the purpose of contributing to strengthening participation of civil society organizations at the Meeting of High Authorities on Human Rights of Mercosur (RAADH).

The PPTP invitation is made through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice, and the Institute of Public Policies on Human Rights of Mercosur (IPPDH). The meeting in virtual format will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Meeting of High Authorities on Human Rights of Mercosur (RAADH) is a space for intergovernmental coordination on public policies on human rights, which brings together the main authorities of the institutions competent in the matter of the States Parties and Associates of Mercosur.

Present information regarding agendas and work programs

Currently, the work of the RAADH is organized through nine Permanent Commissions (Discrimination, Racism and Xenophobia; Niñ@Sur Initiative; People with Disabilities; Older People; Gender and Human Rights of Women; Education and Culture in Human Rights; Report , Truth and Justice; LGBTI; Communication on Human Rights) and the Plenary of High Authorities and its two Working Groups on the Strengthening of the RAADH and the ad hoc Group on Hate Speeches.

This Preparatory Dialogue aims to present information on the agendas and work programs of the different Permanent Commissions and the Plenary of High Authorities, within the framework of the XLIII RAADH, which will take place from May 21 to 24, 2024, in the city ​​of Asunción, with the aim of seeking informed social participation.
