The sky will be covered by a thick veil of clouds. A strong north, northwest wind will blow in the morning in many parts of the country, later in Kurzeme gusts of up to 15 meters per second are expected, in some places on the coast – up to 20 meters per second.

Continued wet snow and rain are expected in Riga, with heavy precipitation in the first half of the day. The north-northwest wind will blow in gusts at a speed of up to 17 meters per second, the air temperature will be +2 degrees.

On Monday, “snow tickets” will be introduced in Riga – drivers will be able to use public transport for free, the Riga City Council reported to the bb.lv portal.
As the municipality notes, ice and snow drifts will form on the roads and visibility will deteriorate, so there may be traffic difficulties in the center of the capital. All municipal services and available equipment will be involved in cleaning roads and sidewalks, however, in order to facilitate road cleaning and reduce possible traffic jams, residents are encouraged to use public transport as much as possible.
The municipality believes that most cars are already equipped with summer tires, so it urges residents to be especially careful, to the extent possible, choose to work remotely, travel by public transport or plan the time and route of departure in advance, taking into account that the journey may take longer than usual.
On Monday, a passenger car registration certificate or vehicle registration certificate will be considered a valid document for traveling on public transport. You must not have your driver’s license with you.
