Jordan – A joint Kuwaiti-Jordanian statement, issued yesterday, Wednesday, at the conclusion of the visit of the Emir of Kuwait to Jordan, stressed the need to reduce tensions in the region, avoid military escalation, and find peaceful, just and comprehensive solutions to conflicts.
King Abdullah II of Jordan and Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah stressed the necessity of preserving the existing historical and legal status of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and the importance of the role of the historical Hashemite custodianship over these holy sites.
The two sides stressed the importance of supporting security and stability in the region, the importance of giving priority to dialogue and diplomatic solutions in resolving differences and conflicts, and the importance of opening channels of communication to build bridges of partnership and cooperation, stressing the importance of respecting the sovereignty of countries over their territories and not interfering in their internal affairs.
The King of Jordan and the Emir of Kuwait discussed the developments taking place in the region and stressed the urgent need for the international community, especially the Security Council, to take a decision imposing an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, protecting civilians, ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid by all possible means, and preventing further escalation, expressing at the same time their rejection of everything that It leads to an expansion of the war, ground attacks on Rafah, or the displacement of Palestinians from their lands.
The two parties reaffirmed the centrality of the Palestinian issue and that reaching a just solution to it that fulfills all the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people on the basis of the two-state solution is the only way to achieve just, comprehensive and lasting peace.
The two sides stressed the importance of security and stability of navigation in the region’s sea lanes, in order to preserve the interests of countries around the world.
They pointed out the importance of completing the demarcation of the Kuwaiti-Iraqi maritime borders, stressing the necessity of respecting Kuwait’s sovereignty.
They also confirmed that the entire Dorra field is located in the marine areas of the State of Kuwait and that ownership of the natural resources in the submerged area adjacent to the Kuwaiti-Saudi divided zone, including the entire Dorra field, is joint ownership between the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia only.
