MEXICO CITY.- Salinas Groupconglomerate of companies Ricardo Salinas Pliegodescribed the president’s statements as “lies” Andrés Manuel López Obrador once morest Afore Azteca for allegedly “stealing” their clients’ resources.
These are statements “without evidence or foundation,” the conglomerate maintains in its statement.

During the ‘morning’ of Friday, April 19, AMLO said Azteca Bank seeks to “steal, expropriate or confiscate the Afores” of its clients, he also assured that it is one of the Afores that concentrates the most savings along with Citibanamex, Coppel y Banorte.
With Friday’s press conference, in which Azteca was mentioned at least nine times, the president has made 30 points or references to the company so far this year, the conglomerate denounces.
“Those from the conservative bloc are very liars and they are not going to stop saying that we are going to steal the Afores, as those from Azteca say,” said President López Obrador.
“The tone and lightness with which the head of the Executive affirms – without evidence or foundation – that “we use” TV Azteca and its news programs to defend our businesses is worrying,” the conglomerate accuses in its statement.
“Over 30 years, we have practiced ethical and responsible journalism, thanks to which millions of Mexicans trust us. “That is our moral authority, for which we work every day, and which bothers some in the government so much.”
Grupo Salinas maintained in its statement that “Afore Azteca complies and has always complied with the law” and that it is the government that omits to talk regarding how the savers only manage and safeguard the workers’ savings, but do not own them.
“They approve a new law and claim the right to take the savings of one worker to pay another and finance other expenses of their convenience, which is clearly theft,” they point out.
In the bulletin they indicate that Afore Azteca has transferred all of the resources requested by the IMSS and the National Commission of the Retirement Savings System (Consar) as dictated by current regulations on the matter.
