Ahead of the decision on the results of the presidential election dispute, presidential candidate number 01 Anies Baswedan reminded that the judges’ decision will have a big impact on the course of the Indonesian nation’s state life.
“When it comes to the decision, of course we are all waiting and we know that this decision will have a big impact on the life of the Indonesian nation,” said Anies at a halalbihalal event at Cak Imin’s official residence in Jakarta, Saturday (20/4).
On that occasion, Anies also reminded that the Constitutional Court’s decision was part of an effort to correct massive irregularities committed by the government.
“Correcting massive irregularities is expensive but allowing them is much more expensive. Therefore we believe that the judges on the Constitutional Court panel are well aware of this crossroads point and we are sure that they will take bold decisions, make decisions based on conscience and to save practice the constitution, the practice of democracy in Indonesia,” he said.
Anies also admitted that he was touched and proud because it was only in this presidential election dispute that so many parties said they wanted to be friends of the court.
“This is the first time there has been a trial at the Constitutional Court, where so many parties stated that they wanted to be friends of the court. Something that has never happened before. This confirms that we are at a crossroads, whether we will return to an era where the presidential election election process was completely regulated “Everything is influenced and controlled by government power, or we will continue with what has existed so far,” he said.
According to Anies, the current election process is a reflection of the will of the people, not the will of those holding authority in the government.
Therefore, it is the people’s right to make corrections to allegations of massive irregularities in this year’s election process. (Z-6)
