Witnesses to the kidnapping of murdered German couple gave statements

Asunción, IP.- The fiscal agent of the Specialized Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Sandra Quiñónez, took a statement this Friday morning from four people who had been released by members of the self-proclaimed Paraguayan People’s Army, following taking the couple made up of Robert Natto and his wife Erika Reiser.

The hearing took place at the headquarters of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office of Concepción. First, Gervacio Candia gave a statement. Afterwards, the ranch administrator Jorge Candia, Roger Manuel Ruiz Candia and Nelson Jara, a Senacsa official, will be called.

The event occurred last Wednesday in the Yby Yau district. The four witnesses were in the company of the couple, later murdered, when they were preparing to vaccinate cattle in one of the pens of the “Luisa Ganadera” establishment.

“These people appear for a witness hearing in relation to the event that occurred last Wednesday. The data obtained will be of utmost importance for the investigation of the case. Regarding the evidence collected during the procedures, we have important data apart from the information that was obtained through other seized elements, said prosecutor Quiñonez.

He added that they are certain of the way in which they (EPP members) are governed, the system of how they are organized, the discipline system, etc. “All of this is of utmost importance. These manuals were in the backpack that they abandoned while fleeing following executing the couple. Three of the four involved in the kidnapping and death of the Nattos have been identified. “They are Antonio Bernal Maíz, Esteban Marin López and Rubén López, who acted with their faces uncovered.”
