The Ministry of Education participated in the regional conference for joint knowledge production in the field of integrating reproductive health concepts into school curricula, which was held in the city of Amman, State of Jordan, at the invitation of the Jordanian Supreme Population Council and “Share Net” Jordan Ministry was represented at the conference by Dr. Akram Hassan, Chairman of the Central Administration for Program Development.
The conference, which was held under the patronage of Dr. Mohieddin Tawk, President of the Jordanian National Center for School Curriculum, and led by Professor Dr. Issa Al-Masarweh, President of the Jordanian Supreme Population Council, saw wide participation experts from Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt addressed the presentation of the experiences of the participating countries to include the issue of health in general and reproductive health in particular in school curricula.
Dr. Akram Hassan, head of the Central Administration for Curriculum Development, reviewed Egypt’s experience in education reform and development, which began in 2018 with the full support of political leaders, believing that an effective education system is the way to build humanity.
Hassan added that the development stages will continue over the coming years to include the intermediate stage from the next school year, followed by the secondary stage once the primary stage has been developed in all its classes .
Hassan explained that the stages of development of the program began with the formulation of the general framework and the identification of issues of great concern at the national, regional and international levels, as well as supporting life skills and values due to their major and influential role in the preparation of the individual. for life and improve the quality of life of the Egyptian citizen and society.
Hassan addressed the development of documents specific to different academic subjects and the methodological mechanisms for integrating issues in general, as well as the issue of public health and the issues arising from it, such as the issue of reproductive health and preventive and curative health.
He reviewed Egypt’s unique experience in the region in developing a general framework for the issue of population and reproductive health, and in producing guides to train teachers and educate students and parents through concrete life situations, in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (Egyptian Office). noting the importance of the Environment, Population and Health Activities document as a tool for extracurricular activities and for addressing the issues included in the manual, as well as the importance of the diversity of educational and awareness-raising materials and the diversity of their sources to include awareness-raising. from all segments of society.
