Donald Churchill’s hilarious comedy “The Decorator”, directed by Alexandros Liakopoulos and performed by Yiannis Argyroudis, is coming to the act theater for its pan-Hellenic premiere on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 April
In the role of the painter Walter, we meet the actor Giorgis Kontopodis, who has already made the ACT theater his second home with the show Koimomenos Halepas, in the last two years, in the role of Marcia, Danai Kalopita, who has also been introduced to her audience Patras with the wonderful monologue Madame Roza’s brothel and in the role of Jane the actress Ioanna Marmarou, who is traveling to Patras for the first time.
A few words regarding the project
What can happen when the wealthy Marcia, wife of the general manager of Atlas Lifting and a member of London’s high society, decides to introduce the painter, who is painting her penthouse – while her husband is away on business in Bahrain – as the absentee her husband, in an attempt to make fun of her lover’s wife, Jane, who had them fighting over panna cotta the night before and has come to tell all regarding her jealous, cheating husband?
The painter, while initially refusing, bows to Marcia’s bulging purse and ends up taking the role of her husband very seriously, creating hilarious situations that escalate when the amorous and alluring Jane arrives.
Things get even funnier when the cheated wife decides that the best revenge is to cheat on her adulterous husband with Marcia’s “husband” ie… the painter.
When Marcia finds out, she demands that the painter, who has been ecstatic regarding Jane’s amorous performance, extolling it and boasting regarding her night, give her a chance to show him that she’s a better lover than Jane and all that. while her rival has not yet, unbeknownst to Marcia, left the house.
All this leads us to the hilariously romantic finale of the play, with the three heroes, dressed only in their towels, flirting and dancing… with the conductor of the two ladies the painter and musical instruments the rollers and brushes!
It is a spartan comedy by the master of the genre Donald Churchill, which is presented with great success abroad and has received praise from the audience and critics, who (as the London Star review typically says) ”fall out of their seats and they are rolling in the corridors of the theater with laughter.” It is being presented for the first time in Greece and following the performances in Patras and the ACT theater, it will continue in Athens, at the Avlaia theater, Piraeus from May 10.
With great joy, the actors of the show are premiering this work in Patras, who loved their previous works so much, and they aspire for the same to happen with this one!
