Constitutional judge Anwar Usman is said to still be using the room of the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK). In fact, Anwar had actually been removed from the position of Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court and replaced by Suhartoyo.
“Yes (still using it),” said MK spokesperson Fajar Laksono when contacted, Sunday (21/4).
Fajar said Anwar still uses his old room because the current Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Suhartoyo, also feels at home using his old room.
“Mr Suhartoyo is comfortable using his work space which is close to the deputy chairman’s work room. This makes coordination easier,” said Fajar.
Previously, Fajar also confirmed that Anwar was still using several of the MK chief’s facilities. However, he did not specify what facilities were still being used.
The Constitutional Court will gradually make arrangements to transfer the facilities previously used by President Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi) brother-in-law to Suhartoyo. This step will be taken following resolving the General Election Results Dispute (PHPU) or election dispute which is being processed at the Constitutional Court.
“The Constitutional Court has planned to make arrangements regarding these facilities following completing this PHPU,” explained Fajar.
Anwar Usman was removed from his position as chairman of the Constitutional Court based on the decision of the MK Honorary Council on Tuesday, November 7 2023. He was proven to have committed a serious ethical violation. (Z-11)
