What’s better than any best-of compilation of well-known titles? The answer can only be a rousing live album full of classics and new hits.

Even the name Tygers Of Pan Tang suggests that it is not an easy undertaking to pick out all the gems from the band’s extensive repertoire and, enriched with the latest, to put them on a live album.

When expectations and choice are huge

But the British don’t mess up, they really do it. The CD edition shines with the intro plus 15 songs and a playing time of over an hour. But the vinyl version is even more delightful, because in the end the double LP has three more songs and is therefore very full at almost 86 minutes.

The concert was recorded last summer The Patriot in Wales and sounds very authentic in terms of sound and audience reaction. Of course, some people will be missing a song from the tracklist, but let’s not forget that since they were founded in 1978, they have accumulated a huge arsenal of classics. That’s why they have each other Tygers Of Pan Tang decided on a balancing act. The very old and indispensable hits from the first four albums are played. Then some things in the middle part of their discography remain unheard and the jump is big, because the newer material only comes on the album Ambush further.

A balancing act from the beginning to today and here

After Intro started Live Blood with the classic Euthanasia von Wild Catto then use it Keeping Me Alive Jump to 2012. In the further course there is a pack of classics evenly distributed like Love Don’t Stay and Gangland, which one you HERE You can listen to the live version, constantly alternating with newer numbers. Of course, the more current focus is on the last studio album Bloodlines. Tygers Of Pan Tang take us from there Edge Of The World, Fire On The Horizon and A New Heartbeart three newer numbers take to the stage, which are also well celebrated by the audience.

A mixture for the heart

But the Tygers know exactly why they have been held in the hearts of so many fans since their youth. That’s why the finale features the typical mix of Rock ‘n’ Roll and New Wave Of British Heavy Metal Suzie Smiled, Hellbound and of course Love Potion No. 9.

Anyone who has decided on the vinyl version will also be included in the setlist Insanity and Slave To Freedom two 1980s songs from the debut album thrown in as a bonus. Because the Tygers Of Pan Tang but can still inspire with their current work and therefore have the corresponding self-confidence, the record ends worthy with the 2016 release Blood Red Sky.

Conclusion
Tygers Of Pan Tang sound rougher on stage than in the studio versions, but always authentic and rousing. The song selection oscillates between the first four albums and new material. Live Blood It’s really fun, especially in the long vinyl version, and shows that the Brits can still pack a punch following so many years. 8,5 / 10
