The technology market is constantly growing. According to the National Employment Bank (BNE), last year IT (Information Technology) vacancies increased by almost 80%. With the sector increasingly booming, it is expected that by 2025, more than 470 thousand jobs will emerge in the area. The last research carried out by the General Register of Employed and Unemployed (CAGED)shows that, in 2022, there was a 60% increase in the participation of women in technology.

Following the trend of increasing female participation in this segment, Neoconsig, a technology company specializing in the management of assignable benefits, has a team in which 60% are women.

“With their unique skills and perspectives, women are demonstrating their ability to contribute in an innovative and substantial way to technological development”, comments Juliana Selenko, HR director at Neoconsig.

In fact, in contemporary times, an example of this contribution is from the founder of Affectiva, the Egyptian scientist Rana el Kaliouby. The company operates in the new field of artificial emotional intelligence and its main objective is to allow technology to understand humans in the same way they understand each other. The work “Decoded” is a biography in which Rana narrates his journey with the mission of humanizing technology. She became one of the largest and best-known researchers in this area, as well as the few leaders in a predominantly male market.

Another exponent of the technology was the British Ada Lovelace, one of the first programmers in the world. She created the first algorithm used for analytical machinery – a calculator. Ada did not have enough time or resources to test and prove her theses and died before her work was validated.

Whether creating innovations, product development or programming, women have played an essential role in the history of technology and are a strong influence and inspiration for the present and the future, even in a challenging scenario.

A survey carried out by Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) shows that, although women are the majority when it comes to obtaining a higher education diploma, their participation in courses such as science and technology is low. The data from National Institute of Educational Studies and Research (Inep) point out that they represent only 15% of those enrolled in technology courses.
