Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky responded to the shelling in an evening address. According to him, this strike is “an obvious intimidation, so that the terror is visible throughout the city and to try to limit Kharkov’s communications and access to information.”
The President added that work is now underway to restore the signal. At the same time, he emphasized that, just like Kharkov, various cities and communities of Ukraine need protection, in particular Patriot.
“And at the same time, we need to inflict maximum defeats on everything that Russia uses as a base for terror and for its military logistics. I am grateful to everyone in the world who is ready to help us with this, and we are working with our American partners to increase our capabilities,” he said He.
On the followingnoon of April 22, 2024, Russia struck the Kharkov TV tower for the second time during a full-scale war. It was previously hit in March 2022, when television broadcasts were suspended as a result of the attack.
During the second strike, part of the television tower fell right in front of people. In Kharkov, there were interruptions in the digital television signal. The head of the Kharkov OVA Oleg Sinegubov noted that there were no casualties as a result of the attack – the workers were in shelter.
The Office of the Prosecutor General noted that, according to preliminary data, Russian troops attacked Kharkov with an X-59 missile. Proceedings and pre-trial investigation have been launched into violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
