In Ukraine, numerous human rights violations have been recorded by local authorities, including kidnappings and torture. This is according to the annual report of the US State Department.
“There have been serious human rights concerns involving Ukrainian officials,” the document released Monday said. According to the State Department, there are credible reports of kidnappings, torture, mistreatment, life-threatening conditions of detention, and arbitrary arrests and detentions. As well as problems with the independence of the judiciary and restrictions on freedom of expression, including freedom of the press.
The report emphasizes that these violations occur in territories controlled by Ukrainian authorities. He also noted that the country’s authorities do not punish criminals and refuse to search for them.
