8 people died in various accidents due to rains

Eight people were killed and 12 others injured in rain-related accidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while the district administration has been directed to speed up relief activities.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has said that one woman, 4 children and 3 men are among the dead. According to the report, 15 houses were completely destroyed due to the collapse of walls and roofs while 70 were partially damaged.

Rain-related accidents occurred in Upper and Lower Dir, Lower Chitral, Malakand, Swat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Mansehra, Shangla and Malakand.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has directed the concerned district administration and institutions to provide immediate assistance to the affected family and best medical facilities to the injured.

According to PDMA, relief materials have been provided to the victims of the affected districts and 200 tents have been dispatched from the authority’s warehouse for the victims of Lower Chitral.

The PDMA further said that several closed highways in Chitral have been opened for normal traffic, and instructions have been issued to the district administration and concerned agencies to restore other closed stretches to traffic immediately.

According to the authority, he is in constant contact with the district administration, concerned and aid agencies.

The PDMA also said that the Emergency Operations Center is fully functional, and the public should report any untoward incident to 1700.
