In a case that ended up capturing all eyes, the discovery of a skeletonized body inside a bag in the commune of Ñuñoa was transformed. What seemed to be the work of organized crime ended in an upheaval following it was confirmed that an 80-year-old religious woman, supposedly a friend of the person found, kept the bones in a house for regarding a year, all because “they had made a covenant”.
As reported by CNN Chile, Francisco Lanas, from the Eastern Prosecutor’s Office, reported that these are two non-consecrated religious women so they cannot be determined as nuns, who had maintained a relationship of friendship for many years.
“It is established that over the course of those years, she (the woman found in the bag identified as Érica Fernández Mora), began an illness that was never treated. It is in that context that they make this kind of pact to isolate themselves,” Lanas indicated.
The prosecutor explained that both “had the aspiration of being cloistered nuns, of not having major contact with the outside world, therefore, they reached an agreement that in the event of the death of one or the other, not to report to the authority and take care of each other until the last moment, even following that.”
The woman was then seen carrying a suitcase to Los Talaveras Street with Eduardo Castillo Velasco (regarding 2 blocks from his house on Los Jardines Street), where he finally abandoned her and went back on his way.
The Public Ministry pointed out that the daughter of the woman who kept the body went to live with her at the beginning of April, and that this might have influenced her intentions to remove him from the home.
The woman, who was identified as Lorenza Ramírez Barrera, was warned following giving her testimony at the PDI offices.
As revealed by Emol, the women had a relationship, and not a simple friendship, as pointed out by the Investigative Police and Prosecutor’s Office.
