Assumption, IP.- The general director of Primary Health Care, César Cristaldo, reported that this department of the Ministry of Health will inaugurate, in the coming months, 31 new Family Health Units in the departments of San Pedro, Concepción and Canindeyú.
The objective is to mark the presence of the State through health. “We have the order to bring solutions to the northern part of the country, which has been abandoned for decades,” said Cristaldo in an interview with Radio Nacional del Paraguay.
When referring to President Cartes’ message regarding the decades of absence of the State in the north of the country, the doctor said that they are precisely promoting strategies so that medical supplies are delivered to the Family Health Units (USF) in a timely manner, as well as the opening of new units.
“With respect to President Cartes’ statements, we are immersed in a plan to reinforce the Family Health Units in San Pedro and Concepción, as well as to install new units in the three departments declared in emergency. “We know that we are carrying out an order from the Minister to respond to decades of abandonment of that area.”
Cristaldo acknowledged that in the past, there were problems in the management of the delivery of supplies, due to the excessive paperwork that had been carried out, in that sense he expressed that they are promoting new ways of channeling orders. “It is important that the USF make a sincere request according to their needs, they must request the real amount of what they need,” the doctor emphasized.
The professional stressed that they have set themselves the challenge of reducing the rate of maternal and neonatal deaths “it is something that we have in mind, it does not leave us alone,” he stated. Special care programs for older adults also continue, with coordinated work on eye and oral health.
Primary health care
This agency has 754 Family Health Units to date, a total of 2,500 officials are estimated, including administrative and white-collar personnel. There is also a presence of community agents who carry out tours and collect data in order to detect which pathology is most common, they internalize the way they collect waste, the quality of the water consumed by the area, since these factors are related directly with health.
The USF are distributed in the 18 health regions, that is, spread throughout the country.
