The tenth Asian Festival of VMU will invite you to experience the culture, traditions, contemporary and classical art of this continent.
“VDU Asia Week keeps reminding us how diverse and full of discoveries this region is. Thanks to the active academic community, Kaunas has the unique privilege of getting to know and enjoy the cultures of Japan, Korea, China and Taiwan, and we feel a great commitment not only to maintain but also to expand the tradition of this festival”, said Arvydas Kumpis, head of the Asian Studies Center of the VMU, in a statement from the municipality.
The festival program includes familiarization with East Asian languages, brainstorming, Asian food creative workshops, impressions from trips to Japan and Nepal, an international student scientific conference, a contemporary dance evening, a cultural fair, national costumes, photography exhibitions.
In the last week of April, Kaunas also traditionally invites you to get to know the Scandinavian culture.
“Kaunas maintains and strengthens close ties with partner cities in Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark. Friendship with most of them lasts more than two decades. We create joint projects, share good experiences in education, culture, environmental protection, youth exchange, transport, self-government and other fields. Traditionally, we give meaning to this cooperation with Scandinavia Days events, encouraging the people of Kaunas to get to know the culture of these countries better,” said Kaunas Vice Mayor Mantas Jurgutis.
Exhibitions, Norwegian language lessons, brainstorming, lectures and discussions, excursions, hikes, concerts, excursions, Nordic walking training await the participants.
An education forum is scheduled for Wednesday, representatives of the Nordic countries will share their experiences.
