SINGER, songwriter and producer from Singapore, Shye, released his first single in 2024. Titled Can’t You See, Shye’s new single tells the story of trying to express his love for someone other than through words.
International musicians such as Rex Orange Country were Shye’s inspiration for this song.
Shye explained, “For my first single this year, I wanted to share something light and relaxed. At that time I was feeling a little nostalgic regarding the dream-pop music trend in 2018 and 2019. This then inspired me to make this song which was inspired by musicians- musicians like Boy Pablo, Clairo, Dayglow, and Rex Orange County.”
Regarding the musical direction of the single Can’t You See, Shye said, “The EP ‘9LIVES’ that I released last October is full of alternative rock nuances full of distortion. Almost the opposite of the type of music I made when I first released music, namely through The songs are in the dream pop genre and I always seem to return to that genre. The light bell synth sound in this song is the sound I used on my debut EP ‘Augus7ine’.”
