Today’s Estonian language exam opens the period of state exams

Today at 10:00 a.m., the state exam of the Estonian language begins, where 7,959 examinees have registered. On April 23, the state exam of Estonian as a second language will be held, for which 2,650 examinees have registered. The English language exam will be held on May 2 and the mathematics state exam on May 23.

The Estonian language state exam has two parts and it measures the reading and writing skills of the examinee. The tasks in the reading section are based on texts representing fiction, non-fiction and popular science. In the writing part, the examinee must create a 400-word argumentative essay and title it.

The Estonian language state exam starts at 10:00 and ends at 16:00. Detailed information regarding the exam topics will be published on the website of the Education and Youth Board at 4:00 p.m. at the latest.

The written part of the state exam for Estonian as a second language will be held on April 23, the oral part will be conducted on April 23-26. in April. The exam measures language skills at the B2 level and consists of five sub-skills – writing, listening, reading, language structure and speaking.

If the high school student is unable to attend the main exam day, he can register for the additional exam. The additional exam of the Estonian language state exam will be held on May 20, and the additional exam of Estonian as a second language on May 27 and 28. To participate in the supplementary examination, an application must be submitted to the Education and Youth Board.

The international foreign language exams for this academic year have largely already taken place, but the Goethe Zertifikat B1 and B2 level exams for the German language will take place on the 13th-17th. mention.

The results of the state exams will be announced no later than June 18 in the exam information system and the state portal eesti.ee.

Exam takers who got the maximum result, i.e. 100 points, in the national exam are invited to the thanksgiving event “100 points party” organized by the Education and Youth Board.

Aimi Püüa, head of the test and assessment department of the Education and Youth Board, states that this spring state exams will be held across Estonia already for the 28th time. “I wish the examinees strength and success for the upcoming exams! Now all students have the opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have carefully acquired over the course of twelve years. Good luck and cool nerves to everyone!”

High school graduates have the opportunity to take the state exam in Estonian or Estonian as a second language, mathematics and English. Instead of the English language state exam, it is also possible to choose an internationally recognized foreign language exam.

4,570 examinees have registered for the English language state exam and 9,867 for the mathematics exam.

A total of 12,131 test-takers have registered for the state exams this year, of whom 9,727 are high school students, 730 are high school graduates and 1,674 are students of vocational education institutions.
