The city of Agadir in the Souss-Massa region is expected to host the second edition of the educational exhibition for smart cities at the African level, on May 14, 15 and 16, 2024.
For this purpose, the organizers will hold a press conference at the Souss-Massa Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services, to announce the launch of the activities of the second edition, for which the slogan “The Smart City in the Service of the Arab-African Citizen” was chosen.
The organization of this exhibition is supervised by the Souss-Massa region, in partnership with the Engineering Studies Office “Innovatel Engineering”, the Agadir Collective Council, the International University of Agadir, the Arab Forum for Smart Cities, and the Moroccan Federation for Consulting and Engineering.
The marginal Kingdom of Jordan was chosen as the guest of honor for the second edition, and a representative of the Arab Forum for Smart Cities, a non-governmental organization.
By the way, the exhibition will dedicate a special gallery to this forum in order to display its publications and introduce its work, its goals, the goals of the Arab Towns Organization, its publications, and everything related to its achievements within the Arab world.
The pedagogical exhibition for smart cities, whose first edition was held last year in the Casablanca-Settat region, and its current second edition in the Souss-Massa region, is considered a real opportunity to present concrete and innovative solutions to the major challenges of the smart city in the future, where, by the way, a group of Moroccan experts in this field will be invited, And startups, financiers, contractors, decision-makers and innovative researchers, to discuss and provide innovative answers to the current challenges of the technological development of Moroccan cities, in the future, on various aspects related, in particular, to governance, domestic tourism, sustainable development, energy transition, digital transformation, safety and security, facilitating urban mobility, and the continuity of services provided. Citizens.
The aim of organizing the educational exhibition for smart cities in Africa is to seek, within the framework of cooperation with partners, to develop innovative solutions in front of the heads of agencies and political officials at the local, regional, national and African levels to achieve the smart city model with purely Moroccan standards specializing in designs and advanced earthquake-resistant building mechanisms and study offices. Engineering, architects, topographers, national and international bodies and organizations.
This, and the pedagogical exhibition, which will be organized for three days, will display a model of a miniature smart academic city on an area of 3,000 square meters, in the heart of the International University of Agadir, which includes all the technologies in the field of smart cities, and will take on the character of a museum open to all visitors, as it will embody this city. Various innovations related, for example, to water rationalization, earthquake-resistant building designs, information programming, and other solutions are realistically embodied in this smart city.
Another model of a miniature smart professional city will be presented, in which all professionals in the Souss-Massa region participate, and includes all technologies.
On the sidelines of the educational exhibition, the “Hatakon” competition, for which the name “African Smart Cities Challenge” was chosen, will be organized in the Innovation City of Ibn Zohr University and Technopark between May 5 and 12, 2024. This competition is organized on the occasion of Morocco’s celebration of Tourism Week, to find innovative technological solutions. In projects related to the fields of agriculture, water, urban safety, energy, tourism and the environment.
