What did Ramiz Raja say about Mohammad Amir’s return?

Reacting to fast bowler Mohammad Amir’s return to the national team, former chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ramiz Raja said that there is no apology in his book for those involved in match fixing, God forbid. If his son was also involved in such activity, he would…

Ramiz Raja gave an interview to a private TV channel and expressed his opinion on the return of Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim.

Regarding Imad Wasim, he expressed his satisfaction and said that ‘Imad has also performed well in the Pakistan Super League, he is a talented and intelligent cricketer who brings his talent to the fore.’

Talking regarding Mohammad Amir’s comeback, Ramiz Raja said that ‘My opinion is very simple, there is sympathy for such players but there is no forgiveness for them in my book, God forbid if my son is also involved in such activities. If it were, I would have given it to him.

Recalling his experience as a commentator when the spot-fixing scandal came to light, Raja said, “I remember when I was commentating at Lord’s (cricket ground) when these players fixed. I will never forget how much people hated me at the time because we were exposing people involved in fixing and then the media criticism the following year.’

It should be remembered that in 2020, fast bowler Muhammad Amir announced his retirement based on the alleged misbehavior of the then PCB administration.

Later, following 4 years in March 2024, he reconsidered his decision and made himself available for the national team in the T20 World Cup by revising his decision and joined the Pakistan squad in the ongoing physical fitness camp of the Pakistan Army at Kakul.

It should be noted that on the first day of the match at Lord’s on 24th July 2010, Mohammad Amir completed his 50 wickets in Test cricket by guiding 6 English batsmen to the pavilion, but then this match became a black mark for him. .

During the match, a British newspaper released videos of bookmaker Mazhar Majeed doing spot-fixing with Pakistani players.

And then following the investigation, the court sentenced Mohammad Amir to jail for 5 years, Asif for 7 years and Salman Butt for 10 years.
