Great Britain allocated $187 million for Ukrainian energy

London will allocate an additional 150 million pounds ($187 million) to strengthen Ukraine’s energy sector, which was damaged by the strikes. This is stated in a statement by the British Permanent Representative to the OSCE, Neil Holland, published on the government website.

According to him, together with G7 partners, the British authorities will continue to assist in the restoration, protection and construction of Ukraine’s energy system. Holland recalled that in the republic, due to damage to energy infrastructure, millions of people face interruptions in the supply of electricity, heat and water. In some cases, power supply is limited to six hours a day, and hospitals are forced to use backup power sources.

Earlier, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal said that this year the country will receive 560 million euros from the European Investment Bank (EIB) for energy, transport and housing restoration.

In addition, Kyiv insists on using frozen Russian assets to repair critical and energy infrastructure destroyed by the strikes. According to Shmygal, for now, medium-term financial support programs are a priority for the country.
