Time is ticking: there are less than 2 weeks left to submit mandatory asset declarations | Business

“Submitting an asset declaration is relevant for politicians, civil servants, heads of budgetary and public institutions, municipalities, state enterprises and their deputies, judges, notaries and other persons and members of their families”, – reminds VMI deputy head Martynas Endrijaitis, noting that assets must be declared those residents who held the aforementioned positions in 2023.

VMI reminds that it is mandatory to declare data regarding the year 2023 in the Annual Property Declaration of a resident (family) (form FR0001). December 31 owned real estate, other registrable property, received and granted loans and securities of a certain value, monetary funds, valuable works of art and jewelry.

Individuals and their family members fill out these declarations based on available data, certificates issued by banks and other legal entities regarding the available amount of money in accounts and the balance of outstanding loans.

The easiest way to submit an asset declaration is by logging in to Electronic declaration systems (EDS). After declaring the assets, no additional tax obligations arise. After evaluating the submitted declarations, VMI will, in accordance with the procedure established by law, publicly publish the data extracts of property declarations by October 1. You can find publicly published asset declarations here.

More information on asset declaration, as well as a complete list of persons who are required to submit asset declarations and other relevant related information can be found on the VMI website www.vmi.lt > Property declaration. Consultations are available by phone +370 5 260 5060.
