A topical question to the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the topic of “Government’s strategy in the Western Balkans” was submitted by the MP for Achaia of the New Left Sia Anagnostopoulou.
As he said: “In a period of geopolitical upheaval in the wider region, with the very fragile situations taking shape in the Western Balkans with the vote for Kosovo’s accession to the Council of Europe, the Prespa Agreement “up in the air”, relations with Albania in barren disorientation, the government’s lack of strategy regarding the Western Balkans shows a complete inaction on foreign policy making in our region.
The candidacy of Freddy Beleris on the ND’s European ballot proves that the country’s foreign policy is not drawn in relation to national interests, peace and stability in the region. It is drawn in relation to intra-party balances and right-far-right electoral rivalries. That is why I submit a topical question to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Gerapetritis, and ask for answers on what the country’s strategy for the Western Balkans is today.”
