Israeli settlers killed two Palestinians today in the occupied West Bank, the mayor of Aqraba told Reuters news agency.
“Around 50 settlers, many of them armed, attacked residents of the Khirbet al-Taweel community, east of Aqraba, in the Nablus region. They opened fire on youths, killing two and injuring others,” said Mayor Salah Bani Jaber.
Tensions in the occupied West Bank have escalated since the start of Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip, triggered by an unprecedented attack launched by Hamas on October 7.
Since then, at least 460 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank by Israeli forces or settlers, according to the Palestinian health ministry. In the same period, 13 Israelis have been killed by Palestinians in the West Bank, according to Israeli authorities.
